You mean you're worried he's gonna cheat? Well I say stop worrying. If he's a cheater he'll cheat no matter what he does for a living. And vice-versa
I personally think truck drivers are normal people just like everybody else, I even wanted to be a truck driver myself when I was a kid Cheers! |

If he is OTR and spending long periods of time away from home, it can easily put a strain on a relationship. My husband and I drive a truck together as a team, and I have friends whose spouses live at home. It can be stressful.
You're at home, spending your free time thinking about him & what he's doing. He has an ever-changing schedule, sometimes he's up all night and may not be able to call you or answer the phone when you're home & wanting to talk. Most folks have heard stories, seen movies and basically learned the stereotype, about truckers being lonely, horny men who pay for truckstop hookers and have a "woman in every town". It pays to keep in mind- that it's JUST a stereotype. Sure, there are drivers who fit the stereotype, but there are plenty more who are family oriented, trustworthy, normal people. Most are too busy when driving, and too tired when sleeping, to worry about woman-chasing. I agree with what another person said- if he was going to cheat, he would do it regardless of his profession. One thing that I bet would help you, is take a 2 week vacation & go on the road with your fiancee. Seeing life behind the wheel, first-hand, will give you a better idea about what it's REALLY like out here and what your fiancee is likely doing with his free time. When you see what it's like on the road, you'll have actual images to fill your brain with, when you find yourself wondering, "I wonder what he's doing right now??" Making a relationship work when one person is OTR takes a lot of work, good communication and TRUST. You guys need to work hard to build that trust, whatever it takes. Good luck |
